40 Weeks...4 Days...The End is Near!

Well, I'm here posting, so I still havent gone into labor. We are heading to the hospital tomorrow at 6 am to start the labor process. We have to be to L&D by 6am and there is paperwork and testing to do, so I'm sure its going to be awhile before they start any real labor stuff. They are going to break my water and see if I progress on my own before they start any drugs.

I was sad yesterday that I hadnt gone into labor on my own. But today, I realized that it isnt so bad. The house is completely clean, bags are packed and loaded into the truck, arrangements are made for the dogs, so I really have nothing to worry about at this point. And it makes me very excited that everything is all ready to go! I even ventured out today for my last "alone" errands run and got my nails done! It was a really enjoyable day. Kennie and I hung out in bed for a little bit with the girls and then made breakfast, realizing that this would be the last time we did this alone as a married couple and not parents. Its a very surreal feeling. I am defiantly going to take some tylenol PM to sleep tonight.

So since everything is ready to go, and the kitchen is clean from dinner, we are watching a movie and I'm going to take a relaxing bath before hitting the sack. I will post as soon as I can, I'm sure word will spread quickly. Thank you to all that have kept us in your thoughts and prayers and continue to do so, we couldnt be more blessed with great friends and family that surround us.

Tomorrow we finally get to meet Baby Rutherford!!! And find out if we have a little Kelly or little Kennie on our hands!!

40 weeks, 2 day Checkup

I just got back home from my 40 weeks and 2 day check up. They did another non stress test and exam. I am now 4cm dilated!! So basically its a waiting game over the weekend, and if nothing happens, we are to report to Labor and Delivery at Crouse at 6am Monday morning. I'm really hoping that something happens before then! I was having contractions that were showing on the monitor, but nothing consistent yet! So keep your fingers crossed that something will happen before Monday...there is a snow storm coming, so that adds to the adventure, which at this point, I couldnt be more ready for! Hopefully my next post will be introducing our new baby! Thank you to all for the prayers and well wishes!

We Made It.....40 Weeks!

Hopefully this will be my last blog post before I go into labor...I'm not counting on it, but hopeful. Today we had our 40 week appt, which included another ultrasound, non stress test and check up. The ultrasound went well, a quick one, we got a few new face shots. They are estimating 8lbs, 4 oz. Then it was off to the comfy recliner for the non stress test where they monitor the baby's heartbeat for a period of time. Just as I was starting to get sleepy it was off to the checkup, which went well, still 3 cm, and now 75 % effaced. The asked how I was feeling and what my opinion on inducing would be. I said, hold off until Monday and induce Monday if nothing has happened over the weekend. He said thats exactly what he was thinking...so thats the new plan. Keep your fingers crossed that something will take place before Monday.

I finished up my last day at work today. It was very bittersweet. I truly love my job and my responsibilities, and it was very hard to walk away. But I was starting to get very tired and dread being there. I know everything is in good hands (Carrie's), but I'm worried she might go insane with the work load before I return. I'm just hoping she doesnt decide to hate me for having a baby!

Shannon and Kellie are venturing up from Buffalo tomorrow to hang out for the afternoon...unless I go into labor tonight...we are touching base in the morning to decide on a plan

So nothing new other then, the baby should be here any day! We will keep you all posted as soon as we have any new news, and please keep us and our new baby in your thoughts and prayers!

Love to all!

A little late..39 week update

Last Wednesday (11/12) I was 39 weeks...I had an appt on Thursday for my check up. Kennie was not working so he met me at my appt. Everything check out good. I gained another 4lbs, which the Dr assured me it was water weight. I am 3 cm dilated, and 50% effaced. The dr told me to go home and walk to get things going. I have another appt this Wednesday for a non stress test, sonogram and check up. Once we have the results we might talk about induction. I really hope I go into labor by then, I would rather it all happen naturally.

This weekend was pretty uneventful. I had lunch with Rachel on Saturday and went shopping. Trying to get more walking in, but it just led to sore legs, not labor. Sunday Mom and Elisa came over and spent the afternoon, which was nice around my nesting that has set in. I rearranged the Florida room and cleaned the house. I feel prepared as I'll ever be, so lets get this labor started!

Shannon and Kellie (from CO) are supposed to visit on Thursday, I sure would like for them to meet the baby! We will keep everyone posted!

A Relaxing Weekend...

I dont remember the last time I enjoyed such a relaxing weekend...It started off well on Friday when I decided to do my usual bank errands and then hit Pizza Hut for my favorite pizza and dessert..I was home and relaxing by 6:15...a good TV show, pizza and hanging on the couch was just what I needed, as Kennie was going to be working very late...

Yesterday, was pretty much the same way, I bummed around the house did a few chores here and there, worked on thank you cards and watched 2 lifetime movies. Although they were not the best 2 I have ever seen, there was nothing else on, and it just seemed like a sappy movie kind of day. Kennie got home around 2 and was pretty exhausted from putting in a lot of hours all week, so we spent the rest of the night eating dinner and hangin out.

Today we slept in...until 11:30...we were up around 9 but got to lay in bed. We havent done this in like a year, and Im sure it will never happen again after baby gets here. We had breakfast and I did a few things around the house, and happy to announce, all 60 thank you cards are in the mail! That was a huge task, and I feel more prepared now that they are done and on their way! I made my grocery list, and although I just went to 2 stores, and not my usual places it was nice to make a quick trip...but I didnt get my normal deals and was not happy with the grocery total of $91...but if I did my usual trip it would have saved a few dollars but added a few miles and time to the trip...I'm back home, with a pot of broccoli and cheddar soup on the stove, made some roasted red pepper and mozzarella cheese french bread appetizers and I'm snuggling in for a Sunday evening...Its soo nice to spend time at home and not have a million projects going on. I'm sure I could drum up a few things to do, but I'm not starting anything before the baby arrives!

I hope everyone else had an enjoyable weekend...here's to another Monday, and maybe we will have a baby this week!

More Baby Showers...The Recap

I havent had a chance to blog about this, so I better do it now!

Everyone at work threw us a baby shower on 10/18...It was a great DAY!! We had our favorite kind of pizza and wings for lunch and the presents and cake! I was over whelmed with the generosity of all my co workers...they gave us our baby monitor, car seat base, diaper genie, and a ton of other misc. stuff. We enjoyed a great cake also! I have to send out a special thanks to Carrie for organizing it all, I know she was very stressed out, but she did a great job!

Carries creation of a cake, it matches our shower invites!

Then...on October 23 we had our Whinning Whino's meeting...all the girls from work and a few who dont work here anymore get together to drink wine and gossip...I really wasnt in the mood to go, but Carrie insisted that I go and I could just leave early...so I walked into Michele's house decorated for another baby shower! I really cant thank the girls enough, they went above and beyond! They gave us the last thing we were missing for the baby, the travel system with the car seat and stroller. And my favorite gift...a Bib (see picture below) Although I didnt have any wine and I left at 7:30 it was still a great time, and I was so grateful for such great friends!

The whinning whino's bib!

Although I dont have a picture of me opening it, here is the travel system!

I still can not believe how blessed we are, I cant thank everyone enough!

38 Week Update

Yesterday was 38 weeks...and I had check up in the afternoon. I am 2 cm dilated and my cervix is soft!!! So that is major news that there is some progression being made!!! I was also having a contraction that the dr pointed out and I didnt even know it! So everyone is very excited and its really starting to be real that I could go into labor at any moment! Nothing else new to report really, I gained another 2 lbs, making it 32...(my lucky number and the race car number!) total...so I guess its just a waiting game now!

I did come home yesterday and took the dogs for a walk, since it was such a nice day...65 degrees out, and I heard walking induces labor. Then of course I couldn't sit still so I cleaned the house and vacuumed...so by bed time I was very tired and sleep by 8:45...but at least I will know if I go into labor my floors were clean! Kennie and I put our bags in the truck with the car seat, so everything is ready to go! We will keep you posted!!

My very lopsided 38 week belly, the baby seems to always be on my right side!

i am in LOVE, w/my new sneakers that is!

I am very picky about sneakers. I like white sneakers, but I'm OCD about keeping sneakers looking brand new, so white sneakers dont work for me. A few years ago I bought a pair of Adidas that were gray and pink and I have loved them ever since! They wash up great and still look almost brand new. But my feet are swelling a bit, my old faithfuls havent fit and every time I try to wear them my feet end up hurting. So I have been on a sneaker hunt for while now. I found a pair at Kohls a few weeks ago...dark gray w/pink...but at $70 I wasnt going to purchase them until they went on sale. Low and behold I got a 20% Kohls coupon on Thursday and I was off to the store Saturday for the sale....and they are everything I ever hoped for! My feet have felt so much better wearing sneakers and I'm so happy with my great find and deal. Not only did I have a coupon but they were marked down to $48 in the store! I just had to share my pure excitement about my new kicks!

Please say a prayer...

As many of you know we have been dealing with our poor doggy having cancer, and have been fighting the battle with Kennies mom Patti since March of 2006. I currently must say I feel I have been burned by cancer in our lives as it seems to cause many heartache, not only to our family but to many friends and people we know.

Mom went into the hospital last night because she was feeling dehydrated, she is actually anemic and now getting blood transfusions. Kennie went to visit her tonight and brought the latest picture of our Baby Beaner, and she was very excited to see it. He said she is in good spirits, so I'm hoping everything improves within the next few days. We havent talked to the doctor yet, but someone is going to put a call into him tomorrow. I would really like to go sit by Mom's side like I did the last time she was in the hospital, but I dont want to subject myself to the germs, and I just dont know if I can do it physically and emotionally at this point.

As far as Susie, she has been a lot better after our bad week last week. Her front leg where the cancer is in her shoulder started to swell a few weeks ago. We took her to the vet last Sunday and switched off the good meds to steroids, but there is a few day waiting period in between the two. We spent most of the week sleeping on the floor with her in the living room because she was in pain and just moaning in her sleep, by Wednesday I was really thinking we wouldnt be able to make it to the weekend with her that way, but Thursday when I got home she was showing signs of improvement and less pain. Each day she has gotten a little better and the swelling we noticed in other places has subsided. Her leg is still swollen, but we decided to try another week of the steroids to see what happens. So we are at least getting better night of sleep, it was pretty rough going for awhile, and she seems to be her happy self in less pain. We still dont know what we are going to do for treatment for the long haul, but as long as she can get around without being in pain right now, thats the main focus. My dad has been stopping in on his way from work and letting them out and checking on them for me, and that has been a godsent!

Getting her paw and leg iced down w/freezy pops! They work great!

So please in your prayers tonight include Mom and Susie. I have seen them go through so much and give such a fight they might need a little help from the man up above, so they can be healthy to meet the new baby!

37 Week Update

Last Wednesday was 37 weeks...yes 37 weeks, amazing that we are truly in the home streatch. I cant believe that this little one can show up any day now! We had a doctors appt on Friday with a Sono at 7 am, then I had a drs visit. Kennie was able to go to the sono with me to see the baby on the screen one last time. Its amazing how big they get and how you cant even see the whole baby in 1 shot. Everything looked great, and they are estimating that the baby weights 7lbs 4 oz, which can go a pound either way, I'm hoping that they are 6 pounds at this point because I know they can add a few pounds in the coming weeks, and I dont want a huge baby! We were able to get some face pics and there was thumb sucking going on! I was a thumb sucker and I know what a nasty habit this can be...so I'm hoping that its not a habit already. Although it was very cute! Here is the last picture before they arrive into the world!

The drs appt was pretty routine. I have gained 0 lbs since my last visit, and all the other stats were good. My next appt is this Wednesday and they will check for any progress. So its all a waiting game now. Its driving me nuts not knowing exactly when it will happen, but knowing its going to be very soon is exciting. Here is my latest belly shot...I'm pretty much just feeling ginormous at this point, and wondering what it feels like to be back to my normal body because it seems like so long ago!
