A Trip to the Zoo

Its a yearly tradition that started in 2007 that for Patti(Kennie's Moms) birthday we take a trip to the Zoo and go to lunch or dinner. Last year we missed out because the weather was cold and I was feeling under the weather being newly pregnant. So this year, with the nice weather in the forecast on Saturday morning we decided to head to the Rochester Zoo. We were going to go to the one here, but decided to do something different.

Elisa got here Friday night, so we could make it a family trip! So after breakfast at the dinner we headed out! It ended up being perfect timing because Riley took her nap on the way there and then on the way home! We arrived at the Zoo to a beautiful 65 degree weather day and it was packed! We saw a ton of awesome animals that are not at the Syracuse Zoo and we all had a great time! We enjoyed a little lunch to tie us over for dinner at the cafe outside at the Zoo, then it was back on the road! Once back in Syracuse we went to Colemans, the old Irish pub in the city for dinner! We couldnt have asked for a better day! To end the great day, we enjoyed a bon fire outside in the great evening weather with some friends. I love weekends like this where we get to enjoy each other, and family and do fun things, Im starting to get used to a not so clean house and enjoy the fun things in life instead of being OCD about the house all the time!
Heres to another week! I hope everyone has a great week!

4 Months Already!!

Just a quick update. Riley is 4 months already, its amazing how time flies! Tuesday night we started cereal, and of course our piglet loves it! It didnt take her long how to figure out how to get it off the spoon and into her mouth. It does take her awhile to eat the little bit in the bowl, but she really seems to like it, and I think its holding her over through the night because she hasnt woken up at 2 am for her feeding! YAY!!!

~4 month milestones~
Very interested in her feet, and tires to put the in her mouth
Talks like crazy and Im convinced actually carries on a conversation
Loves tummy time and is doing very well at holding her head up
Loves standing up on our laps, pretty sure shes going to go straight to crawling
Is very easy to get to smile if you just look at her!

Its amazing how time flies! We are enjoying every minute!

It Cant be Sunday Night Already!!

Riley, Cassie, Lucas, Brooklyn and Austin "The Moutlton, Weber Family Grandkids!"
Grandma Jackie's Side of the Family!
Well after a busy weekend, heres a little update! The weekend started off great, by 9 am Saturday morning, the house was clean(Daddy and Riley slept in!) and Riley and I were heading out the door to meet my Mom and her high school girlfriends at Panera for breakfast! Mom wanted everyone to meet Riley. It was such a great time and all the new and old grandmas got to compare notes! Next was a quick stop at cousin Debbie's where we visited for a bit, had a glass of wine at Noon, and checked out the new stuff around her place! Then it was off to Brittany and Brians to meet up with everyone from Connecticut! My Cousins, Jenn, Dawn, and their kids, Cassie, Austin and Brooklyn all came for a visit! And of course Lucas couldnt wait to hold Riley. It was such a great visit and Im glad we could get all the kids together and catch up, we need to do it more often for sure! We got some great shots and I cant wait for Jenn to send me hers from her SLR because those came out great!! Ill post a few of them too! I havent seen Cassie since she was 3 months old at our wedding, and this was the first time meeting the twins, and boy they are all adorable! Austin fell asleep on my shoulder about 5 minutes after I had him, then came Brooklyns turn, and she was asleep soon after that...too bad Riley doesnt fall asleep that easy!
We ended yesterday with a meeting with our fourwheeling group to plan this years events and a bbq! It was nice to get together with the ol' gang and have great food and a few drinks and swap stories! Now that our summer is totally planned out, I can fill in the gaps! Summer is just too short and books too fast!
So as Monday is knocking on our door...Im finishing up laundry and hopefully hitting the hay, as I might feel a little cold lingering..Im hoping for a great week, for the Rutherfords and everyone else reading!

Daddy and Riley sleeping in!

A Milestone for Me!

I just have to post about this, because its such a big accomplishment for me since Riley was born. I actually finished a book from the cover to the back!!! Every Christmas Kennie gets me the newest Nicholas Sparks book. Although the book usually comes out in the fall, I hold out for Christmas because it has somewhat become a tradition for him to get me the book. So being that I havent had much time to read "The Lucky One", I thought I was never going to finish it. But with having time to myself at work during break times has helped me actually read faithfully everyday. So today while Riley was eating in my lap I finished my last few pages! I felt quite accomplished, and of course I enjoyed the ending of the book, as I always do with Sparks books...so I guess its onto the next book, or the huge stack of magazines sitting in front of me! Yay!!

A Nice Long Walk

Although I have a million in one things that I could get done around the house(and yes, I know, I just sounded like my mother!) but I'm trying to put things like that aside and enjoy my little girl before she grows up too fast. So it was warm enough today(around 50) that I decided that it was a good day for her first walk down at Sylvan Beach. So we loaded up Long Dog and the stroller and headed down. Of course we got there and see was asleep, and slept through getting out of her car seat and into the stroller, and the entire mile walk we did!! But it was nice to get out in the fresh air and get exercise! Long Dog was exhausted by the time we got back to the truck and Riley was finally awake to take in the frozen lake and the beach! I'm hoping all the fresh air tired her out and she will sleep good tonight!! Come on spring, we need more days like this so we can get out in the great outdoors!

Long Dog just couldnt understand why all those people were out on the ice with fishing poles!

The Monster I Have Created

I havent posted about my Long Dog in awhile...so I figured this should be a good post. Once Susie passed away, I tended to favor Longie a little. Im not sure if it was because I felt bad for her knowing she was an only dog, or I wanted the comfort of her snuggling with me while I was missing Susie. But I made the mistake of making a little spot for her on the end of the couch. I put a blanket down and let her sleep on that end of the couch that never gets used. Then a few mornings I let her in bed with us. While this has created a bad habit, that I already broke once in her life when we got ner furniture! So now that end of the couch is hers, and she stands and waits for me to tell her its OK to get up there, and if I dont repons within her time frame, she then just jumps up anyways. I wonder if she stands and wait while we are not home? She also finds her way in the bed in the night. Which can be a problem, with a 100 pound dog taking up most of the space. But it does make her happy and I know it really makes her feel better, so who cares, I guess! Funny thing is, when I go in the living room at 1 am to feed Riley, Long Dog is usually asleep on the couch, and you can tell she isnt happy that Ive turned on the light and distrubed her! I cant imagine my life without doggies in it!

I am SOOOO Ready for Spring

So, my new duties at work, require me to walk to a different building, and since I have been hibernating all winter, going out in the cold so much in 1 day is starting to get to me. I warmed my truck up this morning for 20 minutes and it was still chilly when I got in. I am soo ready for these cold temps to get outta here and for some at least 40 degree weather. So Im liking the forecast for the end of the week, and its also daylight savings time, so Im hoping with warmer weather, and it being light out later in the evening that I have more energy and Im in better spirits about doing this whole working Mom thing. So far things are going good, Im just very tired and cant seem to get anything done once Riley goes to bed. I barley make it to brush my teeth and into bed. I am loving being back to work, of course I miss Riley, but knowing she is with Grandma or Paula really helps, and she is always in a good mood when Kennie or I pick her up, but its just exhausting. I know there are a million other mothers out there that do it, so Im determined to be great at it, and Im sure with time that will come! So on to better weather, and more light in the evenings...and hopefully springtime soon!
